The Cat Practice was the first exclusively
feline Veterinary facility in the world. It was founded
by Dr. Paul Rowan in 1972. Dr. William Sullivan joined
Dr. Rowan in 1974 and took over The Cat Practice in 1978.
The Cat Practice uses the most modern equipment including
ultrasound and endoscopy; but we have always been holistically
focused. Consequently, we are well versed in nutritional,
vitamin, behavioral and other alternative approaches.
The Cat Practice, which was located on
13th street until 1997, has always done a significant amount
of "pro bono" work with various catteries. For
example, in 1997 we fixed up (that is altered and repaired)
and then adopted to good homes over 300 strays.
Our technicians
have been specially selected and trained.
You can be assured that they are sensitive, intelligent, cat
lovers. You will also note our attention to detail. All sick
or injured cats are housed in specially constructed wooden
nooks which each have their own sleeping shelf, light and
heat source, and their own air systems which are exhausted
outside the building.
This goes a long way toward preventing cross
contagion. Your cat will also appreciate the lack of noisy
dogs, pesky parrots or sullen wombats. We take pride in the
excellent caliber of medicine, which has been practiced here
for over 25 years. We also are proud of our communication
skills and the effort we extend toward our clients and patients.
